Auditions are held the first week in June for experienced dancers ages 5-19yrs. Our competitive dancers attend 3 conventions and 5 competitions annually, promoting teams and soloists with the desire to extend their dance education to the next level. Parents’ informational meeting will be held Saturday April 4th, 2020 from 9:30-10:30 am covering the financial and time commitment for competitive dance, as well as general information regarding audition camps and competitions we will be attending. Please email [email protected] or [email protected] for a detailed competition packet.
Auditions will be held in order to place children into specific group numbers depending on their strengths and abilities. Participation in a one-week summer camp will be mandatory in order to learn try-out choreography in each genre. Actual auditions will be at the end of the camp. In addition to the mandatory one-week audition camp, students must also complete a minimum of 12-18 hours of class during the summer session.
Mandatory competition audition camps will be June 1st – June 5th, 2020 for both 280 and Trussville teams at our 280 location. We will hold a make-up camp at our Trussville studio for Trussville students only July 27th – July 31st, 2020 once the building is complete. See camp info below.
Competition students will be kept in competition team classes during the week for the majority of classes, and be required to enroll in a specific number of hours for core requirements. This will allow our students to practice weekly during regular classes and minimize weekend time commitments. We also limit weekend practices to Sunday between the hours of 1 and 7 p.m.. This does not mean each student will practice all 6 hours, only that this will be the set time allotted for competition practices extending beyond regular weekday times. Calendars will be provided monthly showing your child’s specific practice times for each Sunday for that month. Details regarding rehearsals will be distributed with audition results.
This weeklong camp is mandatory for any student wishing to audition to compete on our 2020-2021 competition teams. Please contact the studio at [email protected] or [email protected] for more information. Camp will be Mon-Fri with auditions on Friday afternoon at our 280 location. A 30-minute lunch break will be given daily.
In addition to the summer intensive, competition students are required to take their mandated afternoon/evening classes throughout the summer.
(Make sure to choose the 12 hr + class package in addition to the Competition Camp – hourly requirements outlined in competition info packet.)
